Alnwick Lions run a secondhand bookshop in Bondgate Within next to the famous White Swan Hotel. Everyone is welcome to come along and browse through our extensive stock.

The shop is open every Tuesday and Thursday from 10.30am to 4pm and Saturday from 9am to 4pm. We would also be grateful for donations of secondhand books. Contact alnwicklions@aol.com and we will arrange collection within the Alnwick area.

TALKING NEWSPAPER

A Talking Newspaper service for the visually impaired based on the Northumberland Gazette newspaper is produced and distributed by Alnwick Lions every fortnight.

The tapes, put together by two Lions and two helpers, help keep subscribers in touch with the news in their local community. They are recorded in a living room on a master tape, from which duplicates are made and distributed by post.

The tapes also include information from related organisations, such as the RNIB and Action for the Blind in Northumberland.
