WI Competition

The Women's Institutes in the Alnwick area have been issued with another challenge in 2007, following the success of the food-related competitions at the last two Alnwick Food Festivals.

The WIs must put on a display of the perfect picnic. So far, the competition will have entries from:

Lesbury
Hotspur
Eglingham
Alnmouth
Craster
Roddam

The competition will be judged in the Town Hall on Saturday, September 22, 2007, and the winners and other entries, will be on show throughout the weekend.

Last year, Warkworth were triumphant in producing the best, tastiest afternoon tea. The ingredients had to contain at least one element of local produce to fit in with the themes of the Alnwick Food Festival to promote local food producers and healthy eating.

2005's winner of the WI Sandwich Competition was Longhoughton and Boulmer WI with the entry pictured above, an open sandwich of crab caught by the husband of one of the members.
