Come Saturday and Sunday, September 20 and 21, 2008, the streets of the market town of Alnwick in Northumberland will be buzzing with the sounds of the largest food and drink festival in the North East. After the tremendous success of the 2005, 2006 and 2007 festivals, we know you are guaranteed a good time.
The town will be welcoming visitors from all over the country, indeed, all over the world, as local producers show off and sell their wares.
There will be plenty of chances of sample what the region has to offer, plus even more opportunities to buy it! Cookery demonstrations, talks, food and drinks trails, wine-tasting sessions, a chocolate-making experience, special recipes, offers and surprises are all on the menu of the Alnwick Food Festival. Street entertainment and workshops will keep the children amused, while a Young Chef of the Year competition will add a little spice to the proceedings. Find out more in the Events section.
The Alnwick Food Festival will again coincide with the start of British Food Fortnight, which runs from September 20 to October 5, 2008. This event was set up in 2002 in response to the foot and mouth crisis and continues to go from strength to strength, involving schools and more than 40 organisations in the promotion of healthy eating.
